Our artist collective Kääpäjaosto (eng. polypore division) consists of mostly four human animals working in the arts and social welfare fields. We/It wants to break down, destroy and taste existing structures and without haste to create new proposals from these nutrients.
It is important for our collective to do things like mushroom mycelium; slowly, knowingly and with as little differentiation as possible. The focus of our work is comprehensive well-being, recovery, care and pleasure. Kääpäjaosto makes, among other things, textile art, animation, video art, performances and community art.
Our latest work has been PURKUJENGI (unraveling/demolition gang)
The starting point of the Purkujengi is unraveling, both as an abstract and as a concrete activity. In connection with concrete work, we break down words, themes and norms that intrigue us. As the end result of the process, abstract things get a concrete form with the help of recycled materials that can be dismantled and the performances that are rebuilt from them. We have been working on our Purkujengi art project since 2022. In the summer of 2022, the Kääpäjaosto implemented the Purkujengi community art tour. The Purkujengi project continues its shaping and development. Follow the project on Instagram #purkujengi and on websites.
